The Elk Valley Celebrates BC Mining Month 2025

This May, the Elk Valley joins the province-wide celebration of BC Mining Month 2025, with a series of local events that reflect the deep roots and bright future of mining in the region. The theme, “Mining Our Future,” focuses on the critical role mining plays in clean energy, economic development, and community collaboration.
In Sparwood, mining is more than an industry—it’s a way of life. As part of Mining Month, a variety of community events will highlight the sector’s contributions, connect residents with mining operations, and encourage dialogue about the industry’s evolving future.

May 10 – Sparwood Mining Month Luncheon
Celebrate the community’s connection to mining at this gathering of local leaders, industry representatives, and residents.
May 13–16 – Mine Tours (Register via Sparwood Chamber of Commerce)
May 13: Elkview Operations Tour
May 14: Greenhills Operations Tour
May 15: Fording River Operations Tour
May 16: Line Creek Operations Tour
These tours provide a unique, behind-the-scenes look at the operations driving the Elk Valley economy.
May 15 – Free Community BBQ at the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce
Enjoy a free barbecue lunch and connect with fellow residents and mining professionals.
May 23 – Free BBQ at Titan Park
Hosted by the Sparwood Chamber of Commerce, this is a fun, family-friendly event celebrating the people, projects, and progress of Elk Valley’s mining community.
